Woodwind Guidelines
Flute, Clarinets, Saxophones, Oboes Daily Swab & Clean your instrument after you finish playing Remove reed from your mouthpiece and return to it's reed case Weekly Clean your mouthpiece using a mouthpiece brush Check join corks & apply cork grease if needed. Clean & polish your instrument with a polishing cloth. Monthly Check key action and apply key oil if needed.Bore Oil wooden instruments Yearly Book your instrument in for a service at least once or twice a year. Return your instrument to it's case when not in use Do not place music folders inside the instrument case as this can damage the instrument Do not eat or drink immediately before playing your instrument (avoid soft drinks.) Trumpets, Trombones, Baritone Horns, Euphoniums, Tubas Daily Check valves are sufficiently oiled, apply valve oil if needed. Check Trombone slides have enough slide cream andwater. Move tuning slides Weekly Clean your mouthpiece, using a mouthpiece brush. Check tuning slides are greased properly Clean & polish your instrument with a polishing cloth. Monthly Dismantle, wash & clean your instrument. Dry, rebuild, grease, cream and/or oil.
