Woodwind Hints & Tips
A woodwind instrument requires proper care and maintenance. Here are some tips to keep your woodwind instrument working well providing maximum enjoyment in your playing.
Place the instrument in its case whenever you finish playing it
Do not place music folders inside the instrument case as this can damage the instrument
Never expose your instrument to any prolonged source of heat (e.g. avoid leaving your instrument in cars during summer.)
Take care when assembling your instrument
Regularly apply cork grease to cork on your instrument
Do not eat or drink immediately before playing your instrument (in particular avoid soft drinks.)
Dry the inside of the instrument with a pull-through each time you finish playing. (Use a cleaning rod for flutes)
Use a polishing cloth to remove fingerprints and grit from the instrument's body if you have a lacquered instrument
